Prom:

Mark Your Calendars for the 2022 Prom

Glitz and Glam: A Night at Gatsby's 
Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 | 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. at the Shadowland Ballroom 
Carousel Rides from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. 

Prom Ticket sales begin Monday, April 11th for SJHS Juniors and Seniors.   Tickets are $30 each and will be sold at all lunches.  Exact cash or a check made out to St. Joseph Public Schools is preferred. Guest forms for students (under 21) who do not attend SJHS can be picked up in the attendance office or from Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Culver. Guest forms must be filled out before purchasing a guest ticket. The final day to turn in a guest form is Thursday, April 21st. 

Virtual students may purchase tickets during lunch time in the student center from 11:00 a.m. - 12:39 p.m. or prearrange a pick-up during school hours in the front office. To do so, contact Mrs. Becker (tbecker@stjoebears.com) or Mrs. Culver (jculver@stjoebears.com) to arrange a time; you will receive a confirmation email indicating your ticket is ready to be picked up. Exact cash or a check made out to St. Joseph Public Schools is required for pick-up. Our front office will not be able to make change.

Class Scheduling for Next Year:

REMINDER: Powerschool Scheduling is now open for the 2022-23 school year.  Take some time to discuss the Course Selection Form options with your student they brought home.  Please be mindful of the courses they select and refer to our Course Description Book and Class Meeting Powerpoint (found in your student's Google Classroom/"Class of...") for further information. 

VIRTUAL Parents/Guardians/Students –

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is important to know we will NOT have a full-time Edmentum virtual program next year, so students need to plan on in-person instruction at SJHS with the option of up to (2) 21F online classes.  

DEADLINES: 

FEB 23 – MAR 4 – COURSE SELECTION ONLINE (Powerschool closes at 3pm)

MAR 7 – COURSE SELECTION FORM DUE in Guidance Office (signed by parent/guardian)

Yearbook FAQs

1. Can I still buy a 21-22 yearbook? Yes, you can still reserve a copy of the 2021-2022 yearbook! Since it includes the entire school year, yearbooks are delivered the following fall (September 2022). Reserve your copy now:

2. I'm not sure if I bought a yearbook already. How do I know? Check out the 21-22 List of reserved books. If you're getting an email from Herff Jones, our publisher, you have not reserved a book yet.

3. I have some pics I think the yearbook staff might want to use. How can I share them?  Students and parents can contribute photos to the yearbook. 

Upload your candid photo(s) to our publisher, Herff Jones’ eShare program:

  2. Enter our school code: sjhs2022

  3. Click on “Upload Photos” and follow on-screen directions.

4. Is it too late to submit a senior photo? The yearbook staff is in the process of contacting seniors individually, so senior photos are still accepted. Please follow submission guidelines: Senior Picture Requirements

Key Club: Blood Drive

This past Thursday, the Key Club held another successful blood drive at SJHS! 



Key Club and Builders Club: 

The SJHS Key Club and Builders Club teamed up to make dog treats and toys for Animal Control this week.  They also collected supplies like plastic bags, food, etc. 

It was a great joint project but we were just a little confused as to why the dog treats smelled so good while they were baking!  HA!

Tech Fest: 

Tech Fest 2022

The Ren Baldwin Student Technology Festival is accepting projects now through April 15, 2022.  SJHS students may enter using this form, also posted on the media center homepage. Please see the Tech Fest 2022 website for complete details. Best of luck to all students!

HOSA Club: 

The Berrien County Public Schools HOSA Future Health Professionals Club had 10 students qualify to compete at the State Leadership Conference held in Traverse City February 24th and 25th. Six students from St Joseph High School competed in the following events:

Ariana Burgeson - Sports Medicine

Anna Kalamaros - Human Growth and Development

Lauren Konopacki - Medical Math

Emily Watson - Medical Spelling

Esther Bard - Pathophysiology

Michelande Joseph - Physical Therapy

 

Two competitors finished as state top ten finalists:

Lauren Konapacki - 7th place

Ariana Burgeson - 8th place

 

HOSA exists to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of high school, post-secondary and middle school  students interested in healthcare. The event was a great experience for the students and we are extremely proud of our HOSA members! 

 

 



State Powerlifting Results: 

Emily Watson, Joey Sicurello, and Riley Biggins competed in the State Powerlifting competition at Lake Orion HS on Saturday. Brandon Jones was unable to attend the competition. I'll attach a few photos from it. 

 

Emily finished 18th overall

Riley finished 13th overall

Joey finished 3rd overall

Congratulations to  Anna Vi & Joe Catania for being recognized as our February Bears of the Month at SJHS! Winterfest Spirit Week: (Next Week!!) Weekend Food Program: Mrs. Wagner and Mrs. Juengling started a weekend food program for 15 families at SJHS!  The food program is sponsored by a teacher and classroom each week. Within the first 2 weeks of the program the remainder of the school year had been scheduled and accounted for by a teacher and their students.  Wow! And Awesome!  SJHS Student Section:  The student section at the Girls and Boys basketball game the past Friday night brought their own version of ESPN to SJHS!!  Very fun and cool!  Literary Magazine News:  St. Joseph High School's 2019 literary magazine , revive has been selected to receive the rank of REALM First Class (the highest honor)

 St. Joseph High School News 2/8/21 - 2/12/21 Orange Wednesday : Honoring Mr. Leonard This past Wednesday, our students wanted to honor Mr. Leonard, long-time Upton Middle School Teacher, who passed away last week.  As the story goes, Mr. Leonard had a long standing tradition of wearing orange on Wednesday’s to school.  Based on the picture we were able to get of our students as they left school last Wednesday, Mr. Leonard left a lasting impression on so many of our students!  Mr. Leonard will be dearly missed by our St. Joseph school community.
