Sr. Last Week - Final Day Fri. May 28th

Congratulations!  We are all looking forward to graduation on June 6th!

Graduation Update: Covid Protocols

Parents, Seniors, and Families - With the new outdoor mandate protocols being lifted as of June 1st, we will be able to have anyone who wants to attend our outdoor graduation ceremony on Sunday June 6th.  Masks will not be required and we will not have to limit the number of people in attendance! GREAT NEWS!

With the said, if we had to move graduation indoors due to bad weather, we would have to limit capacity for an indoor event and we would have to mask up.  With the current guidelines, we could grant each graduate 3 tickets to attend the indoor graduation and 3 more tickets per graduate for other family members to watch the streamed live version of graduation in our student center or auditorium.  (Please note, the streamed live version of graduation can be viewed anywhere with wifi connection).  These numbers would put us at 50% capacity in each of these locations.  Let’s just hope and keep our fingers crossed for an outdoor graduation!!!!

Student Celebrations:

NCTE Achievement Award in Writing

Congratulations to Beatrice Craig and Katie Hokanson, both juniors, for winning the 2021 NCTE Achievement Award in Writing at SJHS!  Beatrice and Katie have been selected for a 2021 Achievement Award in Writing, given by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), Beatrice with a Superior Writing Certificate and Katie with a Certificate of Nomination.  This is quite an honor and we are proud of them.

The NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing is a school-based writing program established in 1957 to encourage high school students to write and to recognize some of the best student writers in the nation. Only students who are juniors may participate. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, American schools abroad, and the Virgin Islands are eligible to nominate students for the writing program.

This year, schools nominated 285 students to participate in the Achievement Awards in Writing Program. Of those, 136 were selected to receive Certificates of Superior Writing and 148 received Certificates of Nomination. A complete list of winners will be posted on the NCTE website soon.  Please join us in congratulating Beatrice and Katie!
