Honor Grad Program:
Congratulations to our Senior Honor Graduate Award Winners! The 120 Seniors have maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA for the 7 semesters of their high school careers and will be recognized this evening at 6:30pm in the John & Dede Howard Auditorium. They will each be presented with honor cords that they will proudly wear at Graduation on June 6th. Awesome achievement for these very deserving students!
Senior Celebrations:
Thank you to the Senior Parent Committee for making our seniors feel special. They greeted them at the Senior entrance to the building on Friday with a donut and these yard signs were put up for each Senior to grab, take home, and display in their yards after school on Friday! Appreciating our Senior Parent Committee!
SJPS Foundation:
2nd Semester Exams:
We have decided to follow the same format for 2nd semester as we did for 1st semester. We will NOT be conducting 2nd semester exams because of the inconsistency we have had throughout the semester with face to face and hybrid learning. Instead, teachers will be preparing students to end the year with a unit test or project assessment. The 3rd and 4th quarters will count equally towards the student’s semester grade (50% for 3rd quarter and 50% for 4th quarter). The exception to this would be any class or student taking a course for dual credit through Lake Michigan College. The schedule for June 9-11 will remain the same with students having half days each of those days.

Prom:
About 250 tickets have been sold at this point, which means we have about 50 tickets left for prom for Jr. and Sr. to purchase. The weather looks decent right now and we are hoping for clear skies and 60 degrees.
Ren Baldwin Technology Festival:
The 2021 Ren Baldwin Student Technology Festival has been launched via the festival website. Please visit http://bit.ly/rbtechfest2021 to view all of the entered projects and see this year's winners. Congratulations to senior, Owen Faulkner, who won the grand prize and senior, Samuel Adkins, who received the Ren Baldwin award. Thank you, SJPS Foundation for supporting this annual event.

Student Dress Code Update:
STUDENT DRESS CODE UPDATE
Thank you to the parents that participated in the recent Student Dress Code survey related to "hats, durags and bandanas." We had (520) responses and many comments, which we appreciate. The administrative team recently met to review all input from students, parents and staff and we have decided to run a trial period allowing students to wear the above items, starting next Monday, May 17. A student senate member will also notify students during lunch about the trial period. We will then gather staff input about these dress items through the remainder of the current school year and discuss possible implementation for the 2021-22 school year.
