School Schedule This Week:
We will know more this afternoon as to what school will look like on Wednesday. Governor Whitmer
has a scheduled press conference at 2:30pm that will address the current restrictions. Please feel free to
watch for the latest updates and news, local news stations have been covering these press conferences as
they have been occurring.

American Math Competition:
American Mathematics Competition
On February 4, SJHS will be offering the AMC-10 and the AMC-12. The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examinations in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. Top scorers will be invited to participate in the AIME on March 10. Also, elite colleges like MIT occasionally request AMC scores from their applicants.
11th and 12th graders must sign up for the AMC-12. 9th and 10th graders under the age of 17.5 years can sign up for the AMC-10. Middle school students are also welcome to participate. Cost will be between $5-$10. We purchase tests in bulk, so we won’t know the exact cost until we find out exactly how many students sign up. The more students sign up, the less the cost. If you sign up, you will be required to pay regardless of whether you end up taking the test.
This year, the AMC is offering online administration of the test. If students end up at home on February 4, parents or other responsible adults will be allowed to serve as proctors for at-home administration.

Please remember we are still here to support our students and families even during remote learning. We know that this can be a challenging time and we appreciate all you are doing to support your student’s success!
Shout out to our Upton & HS Students for expressing their gratitude to staff and local healthcare workers through virtual video activities last week -
They did a wonderful job!
On Monday 11/30, we are offering another fun activity for the students to connect with one another outside of the classroom
(a game of werewolf at the HS and a pet show & tell at Upton).
And on Monday 12/7 there will be a panel of SJ alum to talk to students about “what college is really like”.
We are sharing these opportunities with students through their school email and grade level google classrooms. These ‘fun activities’ are optional, but we may have some required SEL lessons in the future.

In the Parent Resource section there are several articles on navigating the holidays this year - including Holiday activities to promote positivity
Athletic News:
No updates at this time. We will be awaiting Governor Whitmer’s press conference today which will provide us direction moving forward with the MHSAA and athletics.
