Winterfest Spirit Week: (Next Week!!)

Weekend Food Program:
Mrs. Wagner and Mrs. Juengling started a weekend food program for 15 families at SJHS!  The food
program is sponsored by a teacher and classroom each week. Within the first 2 weeks of the program
the remainder of the school year had been scheduled and accounted for by a teacher and their
students.  Wow! And Awesome!

SJHS Student Section:
The student section at the Girls and Boys basketball game the past Friday night brought their own
version of ESPN to SJHS!!  Very fun and cool!

Literary Magazine News:
St. Joseph High School's 2019 literary magazine, revive has been selected to receive the rank of
REALM First Class (the highest honor) in the 2019 NCTE Recognizing Excellence in Art and
Literary Magazines (REALM) Program. Of the 325 national entries, only 46 earned this distinction--
and only 2 schools from Michigan.

The 56-page magazine includes 18 student artists and 43 student writers. Literary Magazine editors
were Dylan Marzke, Zach Kreiner, and Amy Paine.

This is truly a school-wide effort. Thank you to art and writing teachers (of all disciplines) who
assigned the work or encouraged the submission.

Band and Orchestra News:
Congratulations to all of the band and orchestra students who performed at the  District Solo &
Ensemble Festival this past weekend. The band and orchestra combined sent over 70 performing
events, the highest number of any school participating. The students performed solos, or in small
groups and were given a rating by an MSBOA adjudicator. All of the students played well, with
everyone earning a division 1 or 2 rating. We are so proud of these outstanding young musicians.

Parents of the Class of 2020,
Plans are under way for the annual Senior All-Night Party that immediately follows the graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 31st, 2020. As in years past, we will spend our night around Chicago. This will include time at Dave & Buster's, seeing an amazing hypnotist show and boarding a cruise ship for 2 hours of games, food and dancing while cruising along the Chicago Skyline. Students will return to the high school at 6:00 am Monday, June 1st.
For complete details and to reserve your student's spot, please return the forms and payment to the SJPS Main Office or mail to Ann Essig, c/o SJPS, 2521 Stadium Drive, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
We realize the cost may be prohibitive for some and want EVERYONE to be able to attend. If you are able to donate extra money towards a scholarship, we would greatly appreciate your support. If you are in need of a scholarship for your student or have any questions, please contact your student's counselor.
