Note from Dr. Bruce: Remote Schedule This Week

SJ Staff and Families,

Good Evening.  Based on the most recent information and an abundance of cautionary planning, we will implement a Practice REMOTE Instruction session for grades 6 - 12 this Wed, Thurs, and Friday or November 11-13.  A three day cycle of remote instruction will allow our teachers and students to run a full rotation of classes.  We have been planning for this model of instruction since the fall and have a pre-planned schedule that will be shared again this week.  Running the model in a practical sense will be an important step towards fulfilling our instructional minutes while also holding high expectations.  I apologize for this abrupt notice, however the mounting C-19 cases and their effect on the organization make these days of practice a prudent move.

Elementary classes unaffected this weekend will continue face to face or In-person Instruction all day, 5 days a week.  If cases continue to mount in the coming days or weeks, we will assess their next steps for readiness as well.

Don't Be A Close Contact,

Sincerely,

Dr. Thomas Bruce,

Superintendent SJPS

Remote Learning Schedule this Week:

Parents,

I am attaching the remote schedule for later this week (11/11 - 11/13).  Attendance will be expected for all students and teachers will be moving ahead with content so we need to make sure all students are present for remote learning.

If technology or connectivity is an issue, please let us know so arrangements can be made.

Looking forward to three great days of remote instruction and learning for our students!

Best,

Mr. Blomgren

CTE Classes - Off Campus

As long as students are not quarantined by the Berrien County Health Department, CTE

students are still expected to follow their off-campus CTE schedule on 11/11 - 11/13.  Students

should work with their SJHS teachers and ask about recorded Remote sessions and other class

assignments, while attending off-campus CTE classes.   Thanks, Mr. Berry

Parent Teacher Conferences: Thurs. 11/12

Parents,

I am contacting all of you to let you know we will be having our Parent/Teacher conferences on Thurs. 11/12 this week.  The format of conferences will be quite different from years past because of covid restrictions.  We are planning to have virtual conferences and we will not be able to accommodate everyone in the time allotted for parent conferences this year.  So, we are going to prioritize parent conferences with those students who may be struggling in courses right now.  Any parent and student with a C- or lower will be hearing from your teachers to set up a virtual meeting or phone conference prior to Thursday 11/12.

Parents, in order to conduct the virtual meeting with teachers you will need to log in and utilize your student's google account through SJ schools.  Having your student log you in and using their computer will likely be your best option.

Please check your emails and communications regularly throughout this week for invites to virtual parent conference meetings with individual teachers.

If you are a parent of a student with A's and B's, you will likely not get any parent/conference meeting invites, but please don't hesitate to contact your student's teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for your continued support and flexibility during these times.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Best,

Mr. Blomgren
