SJPS Foundation - Silver Beach Pizza Give Back Night
The SJPS Foundation would love your support at our FRIENDraiser tomorrow night at Silver Beach Pizza.  Please share with your family, friends, students and anyone else who might be interested.  It will be a beautiful evening...sunset at 7:16 pm if you want to plan your visit! Let's pack the house and have a great time while raising funds for grants that benefit our SJPS students.  GO BEARS! #BetterTogether

ACT/SAT Prep Class:
Dear Parents (and Students),
Fall is the perfect opportunity to start (or continue) training for the ACT and SAT.   I cannot emphasize enough how critical it is to prepare for these exams. Colleges accept BOTH tests, so thereare two keys to try an unlock the same door when it comes to college admission.
I wanted to reach out and inform all parents that Dr. Carlin will be hosting his popular SAT/ACTPrep Course at St. Joe High School beginning MON Nov 11 @ 7:00 p.m (MEDIA CENTER).  Parents can register online at the link below (http://www.drcarlinstestprep.com/satact---st-joe---nov-2019.html)
Dr. Carlin does an outstanding job presenting both the strategy and content of these complex exams at a fraction of the cost of bigger test prep companies, and he gets results.  This course can help students maximize their scores, opening the doors to more competitive colleges as well as bigger money scholarships.
SEE COURSE DETAILS BELOW:
Instructor:  Dr. Scott Carlin, Ph.D.
Dates:  MONDAYS Nov 11, 18, & Dec 2, 9  (8-hour / four session course)
Time:  7:00-9:00 p.m. EST
Location: St. Joe High School (St. Joseph, MI)
Room:  Media Center
Cost:  $249

AP Exam Registration: Parents, there are significant changes to the time frame to register and pay for AP exams, as well as the non-refundable deposit amount. Please see the letter from Mrs. Wagner and contact her if you have any questions.

Parent Volunteers at SJHS Needed:
We have a few openings for parent volunteers in our High School Attendance Office.  If you are interested in volunteering and would like to learn more, then please contact Mr. Jim Berry, Assistant Principal, at jberry@sjschools.org.  Thank you for considering!

Interact Club:
All SJHS students are invited to the October 11 Interact Club Membership Meeting featuring 5 Panelists Sharing Career Path Stories. Join us from 7:10-7:35 am in the SJHS Auditorium and hear from successful Executives from companies like Google, Whirlpool and Wolverine Worldwide. The meeting is part of a yearlong enrichment program featuring topics of interest in Community and International Service, Leadership Training and College/Career Readiness.
On October 15, Interact will host the 6th Annual Career Night at SJHS, Student Center, 6-8:00 pm. This event is open to all SJPS students (all grades). High School students will find the event especially informative since it will give students the chance to go from table to table learning about different kids of careers, asking questions and getting business cards. Featured at the event, will be 70 business professionals sharing their career paths, answering questions about college courses and providing networking opportunities (and in some cases, internships and summer jobs). Included in the program, will be Trade and Military Professionals for those students interested in starting their careers upon graduation from high school.
As a reminder, Interact Club Members are encouraged to attend Meetings and do 14 hours of Service a year, although neither are required for Membership. Signing up is easy and Interact Club is still taking Membership Applications: https://docs.google.com/a/johnsonrauhoff.com/forms/d/1Levi3TltbwFNhMcUzWzpE1xgTfu3iH1sMfdZ4MFf2oQ/prefill
So that members can order Club T-shirts, it is important to pay dues by October 25. In years past, we have always collected our club’s $15 membership dues by cash or check from the students.  In order to be more efficient, the Club is now linked up with PaySchools on the St. Joseph High School web page so that parents can pay for their student’s $15 dues on line. During Membership Meetings, checks can also be handed to Advisor, Steve Borre, written to “St. Joseph Public Schools, Memo Interact Club.”
Instructions for paying dues online:
1.  Log on to the St. Joseph Public Schools web page: https://sjschools.org, 2.  Under “Our Schools”, click on St. Joseph High School, 3.  You will see a blue rectangle box entitled “Pay School Fees” in the middle of the page. Click in that box and sign in.  If your student isn’t registered yet, it will only take a minute to register.
Our club dues help pay for an Interact Club T-shirt for your student as well as the general administration of the club (food at meetings, award certificates, thank you cards for speakers, etc.). If you have any questions, please feel free to email our Advisors Jackie Huie (jhuie@johnsonrauhoff.com) or Steve Borre (Steve.borre4@gmail.com).
Hope to see everyone one on Friday, October 11!!!
