Par: 72

Top 3 Teams:
1. St. Joseph- 384
2. Mattawan- 385
3. Thornapple Kellogg- 387

Complete Results:

Notes:
*This was St. Joseph's 4th consecutive Regional title in girls golf, and 5th Regional title overall.

Coach's Thoughts:
"The girls executed their game plan very well today.  Everyone stayed mentally tough and used good strategy.  The greens were much faster than a week ago, so we lost some shots there, but we made up for it in other areas." (shooting 2 shots higher than last week's Pre-Regional)

"I am really impressed at how hard this team has worked over the past 12 months for this achievement.  Only 2 players had previous Regional experience, and everyone handled the pressure well. When you win by 1 shot it is a total team effort and I couldn't be more proud of this group." - Coach Walters

Next stop- State Finals at Forest Akers East (Oct- 18/19)

Dr. Carlin's SAT/ACT Prep Course:
Dear Parents (and Students),
Fall is the perfect opportunity to start (or continue) training for the ACT and SAT.   I cannot emphasize enough how critical it is to prepare for these exams. Colleges accept BOTH tests, so there are two keys to try an unlock the same door when it comes to college admission.
I wanted to reach out and inform all parents that Dr. Carlin will be hosting his popular SAT/ACT Prep Course at St. Joe High School beginning MON Nov 11 @ 7:00 p.m (MEDIA CENTER).  Parents can register online at the link below (http://www.drcarlinstestprep.com/satact---st-joe---nov-2019.html)
Dr. Carlin does an outstanding job presenting both the strategy and content of these complex exams at a fraction of the cost of bigger test prep companies, and he gets results.  This course can help students maximize their scores, opening the doors to more competitive colleges as well as bigger money scholarships.
SEE COURSE DETAILS BELOW:
SAT/ACT Hybrid Prep Course
Instructor:  Dr. Scott Carlin, Ph.D.
Dates:  MONDAYS Nov 11, 18, & Dec 2, 9  (8-hour / four session course)
Time:  7:00-9:00 p.m. EST
Location: St. Joe High School (St. Joseph, MI)
Room:  Media Center
Cost:  $249

NOTE from DR. CARLIN:
Students should bring pencils, a notebook, a folder, and a calculator.  Suggested (but NOT required) are copies of Official SAT Study Guide, 2020 Edition ($17-20 on Amazon)  and a copy of the The Official ACT Prep Guide, 2019-2020 Edition ($16-20 on Amazon).  Dr. Carlin will provide PDFs of these tests if you choose not to purchase the texts.
Dr. Carlin will provide each student necessary class handouts as part of the course.
Please note, there is significant crossover between the ACT and "New" SAT exams.  In addition, every college and university accepts BOTH the ACT and the SAT, and colleges and universities will evaluate a student on whichever score is higher (based on the ACT/SAT Concordance Scale).  Essentially, taking two tests provide a student two different keys that could unlock the same door to college acceptance or scholarship money.  This course will help students figure out their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to each test and how to utilize testing strategies with one exam and carry them over to success on the other. Nearly every student eventually scores HIGHER on one of the two tests.  However, a students needs the opportunity to discover which test is a better fit.
To give you some background about me, I am the Founder & CEO of Dr. Carlin's Test Prep and College Consulting based in Buchanan, Michigan. I have been regularly hosting SAT and ACT courses at roughly 40 Michigan and Indiana high schools (and now online in Live, Webinar format) for the past 6 years.  I have been working with students on the ACT both individually and in formal classes for the past 18 years.
I am a Buchanan High School Grad ('93), a University of Notre Dame B.A. ('97) and M.Ed ('03) and earned my Ph.D. from Michigan State ('10).  I also work with high school staffs on Professional Development and how to incorporate the ACT or New SAT into the classroom curriculum throughout the year.  In addition, I work with students and parents on the college application process, including essay revision, resume pieces and scholarship applications.
I am excited about the opportunity to work with your students in the coming weeks.
I will continue to send you updates on the course, (including materials that will help in their preparation) what we are doing in each course, what students could be doing to PRACTICE between sessions and what this all means in the "big picture" from a college perspective.   I also hope to host a parent session in the Fall, so parents can ask questions about testing, college apps, and the college readiness process in general.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please don't hesitate to reach out by phone, text, or email.
Thanks everybody, and I look forward to a great course.
 Dr. Carlin

Business Bites:

Key Club:
The Kiwanis family fall festival took place this weekend at Lakeshore Middle School. This event is planned by the SJHS and LHS Key Clubs and sponsored by our local Kiwanis Club.  The Kiwanis family fall festival is an annual event that provides a day of fun for local foster families in Berrien County. A day that allows kids to be kids. We bring in bounce houses, grill hot dogs, and play games. The Key Club members are amazing with the kids, remembering what is was like to be little kids themselves!
