Sr. All-Night Party Fundraiser (Parents)
Okay all parents!!! Mark your calendars for April 20th, as it is Auction Night at Cravings for the Senior All-Night Party Fund-raiser. Check in at 6:00 and auction begins at 6:30. This will be a combination quarter auction, silent auction and live auction. This is our biggest event to raise money, so please mark your calendars. We would like to utilize table captains so if willing to fill a table (8-10 tops), please let us know by replying to Martha Schultz-Johanski at maschultzsj@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE that a whole table is not required, so if you just want to come please do! It is a lot of fun and there will be wonderful items. Paddles are $15 per person and each additional paddle $5.

 Key Club:
Key Club has started a new initiative called the Food Waste Project.  We are collecting unopened packaged foods (carrots, applesauce, etc.), whole fruits and milk at lunch rather than having them thrown in the trash.  A huge thanks to the St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation for awarding Key Club a grant for a refrigerator to store the food that is collected.  During the day students are encouraged to help themselves to a snack.  Whatever is left over on Fridays is taken to the Soup Kitchen in Benton Harbor.  We just wrapped up the 3rd week of the project and we have only had to take one trip to the Soup Kitchen because the students are taking advantage of the healthy snacks during the day.

 Science Olympiad:
St. Joseph High School Science Olympiad Team wins 2017 Regionals!

They worked for months on 23 different events ranging from Hovercraft, Material Science, Anatomy/Physiology to Tower Building and Chem Lab! The team studied, built, wired, broke things, rewired, rebuilt, studied some more, and welcomed an awesome new team member who really stepped up just a few weeks ago -- Prakhyat. The competition was tough, which including recovering from defective batteries in Electric Vehicle (grace under pressure Charvi and Katie!), but in one of the closest finishes between first and second ever, St. Joseph won by 3 points! SJHS is headed to the State competition on April 29th at MSU.
Our team includes 15 competitive members and an alternate, including 3 seniors: Sunny Ghotra, Alexis Harms, and Katie St. Amand. Also on our team are Charvi Chhatwal, Ketaki Gaikwad, Balroop Ghotra, Gabby Hardy, Simi Kaur, Max Nolan, Susie Paine, Braden Reeve, Prakhyat Rohatgi, Jagroop Singh, Vera Tikhonova, Abby Woytsek, and Katherine Zhang. Thanks to all of the mentors from our community who worked with the team on several of the events as well!
