End of Year Checkout! Fr/Soph/Jr (DRIVE THRU)

St. Joseph Students and Parents,

We will be hosting an end of the year Drive Thru for our Freshmen/Sophomore/Junior students and parents so we can close out the school year.  We will be returning locker contents to students, allowing you to check the lost and found items, and asking that students bring back rental laptops, textbooks, calculators, music equipment, athletic equipment, library books and pay any fines and fees.  (Please bring all items to school on the designated day and time).

SCHEDULE:

Wed. June 3rd - Freshmen

Thurs. June 4th - Sophomores

Fri. June 5th - Juniors

TIMES  - (Last Name each day):

A - G - 11am - 12pm

H - P - 12pm - 1pm

Q - Z - 1pm - 2pm

Please come to the front side of the high school on Stadium Drive.  We will have you drive thru and stop at each station to return and collect your student's belongings.

If you have multiple students attending SJHS in different grades you can come on one of the days for your student and Drive Thru on that day for all of your students.

If the schedule above does not work for your student and family, please come on any of the days and we will accommodate you.  We would ask that if possible, please attend on the assigned times/dates so we can keep things organized and efficient.

We will be following all social distancing and PPE expectations during the Drive Thru.  The only station you will have the option of getting out of your car will be at the lost and found station to identify and grab any items that belong to the student.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the end of this week as we wrap up the school year!

GO BEARS!

Mr. Blomgren

Graduation News:

Class of 2020!! Graduation!! Sunday July 26th!!

Seniors and Parents - mark you calendars and begin to plan accordingly for our rescheduled commencement graduation ceremony for our graduating class of 2020.

At this point, we are unsure of the guidance and restrictions we will have in place at the state level for gatherings, yet we want to provide the opportunity to celebrate our Senior class and bring closure to their high school careers before our graduates begin to venture off in August to the next phase in their lives.

We will be planning 3 different commencement ceremony options for Sunday July 26th:

  1. Full on face to face graduation ceremony at Steve Upton Field @ Dickinson Stadium with no restrictions (What we are all hoping for!!!)

  2. A hybrid graduation with either a parade/drive option or scheduled appointment times for students and parents to arrive at Steve Upton Field @ Dickinson Stadium to walk up and individually receive their diplomas.  (Not ideal but we can make it work!!)

  3. All virtual graduation ceremony.  (Our least favorite but it will do if this is our only option)

We appreciate all the thoughts and ideas on how we can continue to support the Class of 2020 and we are looking forward to celebrating this class!  As we continue to plan, please know we will plan and coordinate Graduation with the safety of our students, families, staff, and community members as our top priority!

Best,

Mr. Blomgren and SJHS Staff!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

New chatbot provides personalized,

free FAFSA assistance

For many students, completion of the Michigan Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a critical step to ensure college access and affordability. Unfortunately, only 50% of the state's students have completed the form, though the rate is higher than last year. FAFSA completion can be a major hurdle for students and challenges presented by the pandemic are not helping matters.

Thankfully, AI technology can help. A new FAFSA chatbot is available to help remove common stumbling blocks to FAFSA completion. It's convenient, free, and accessible via SMS text message. The FAFSA chatbot was developed by the College Board and Benefits Data Trust. It uses natural language processing and machine learning to quickly provide individualized support for students' questions.

MCAN encourages you to share this information widely! Every student in Michigan should be able to achieve their goals. College can get them there.
