Counseling Dept. News:
FAFSA Deadline Approaching:  March 1, 2017
As a reminder, priority consideration for State programs is given to students whose Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is received at the federal processor on or before March 1, 2017.
High school seniors who achieved a SAT score of 1200 or higher are eligible for consideration for the Michigan Competitive Scholarship (MCS).  Additional criteria for eligibility, such as demonstrating financial need at a Michigan institution, will be evaluated based on a completed FAFSA.
MiSSG portal users may use the ACT/SAT Search tool to view high school seniors who took the SAT. If a Social Security number (SSN) is not listed, the user may update each students’ record and report their SSN. Our office needs the SSN to match the FAFSA results to see if the student meets the qualifying need component to be considered for the MCS.   The SSN may be reported any time during the 2016-17 academic year.
MiSSG portal users may use the Print MCS Qualifying Students tool to view a list of their students who meet the merit portion of the award.  Also available in MiSSG, a letter for MCS Qualifying Students and a MCS Certificate of Achievement Template.
Please contact us at mistudentaid@michigan.gov or 1-888-447-2687 if you need assistance or have questions.

Report Cards:
We will not be mailing home hard copy report cards for 1st semester.  With access to parent portal and the abilities we have now to constantly view our students grades, we do not feel it is necessary to send home a copy.  If you have any questions please let us know.

Dress Code Reminders:  (Hats and Hoodies)
Friendly reminder to parents and students about hats and hoodies in the building.  We have reminded and informed students about this policy more than enough at this point.  Parents we will need your assistance and support moving forward with this.  We will not be reminding and providing warnings any further with students, if the hats and hoodies are on in the building, the hat will be confiscated and a parent will need to come in to pick up the hat and if hoodies are up in the building students will be asked to change.  Thanks for your attention and assistance with this.
