English Dept. News: National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Achievement Award in Writing for HS juniors Annie Klusendorf and Erica Heathcote, both juniors,  WON  the 2016 NCTE Achievement Award in Writing. Because of our enrollment, we’re allowed to nominate 2 juniors. While we’ve had winners in the past, we’ve never had TWO winners. And these candidates are much deserving of this national honor.  The Nancy Thorpe Poetry Contest (Hollins University): Madeline Richards (11) Finalist for “My First Execution: Age 12” Madeline competed against 1,000+ entries. Charles Crupi Memorial Poetry Contest (Albion College): Lauren Kunkel (11) 2nd place for "A Question for the Dead" Annie Klusendorf (11) Finalist for "The Refugees” Both were invited to the college to read their work. NHS NHS Induction Ceremony:   Thurs. May 5 th , SJHS Auditorium 7pm.   Orchestra Info   SJHS Chamber Orchestra Performing with Jenison Chamber Orchestra this Friday, May 6 in the SJHS Auditorium at 7pm. Bruce Uchimura, the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra Director will be conducting the two groups combined. Sunday, May 8, 4pm at Howard Performing Arts Center at Howard University. The Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra is performing next Sunday. Sam Turk will be performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5. They will also be performing with the St. Joseph HS Choirs on the final performance of Carmina Burana.   Marketing Classes Marketing students will be attending Young Entrepreneurs Day at LMC Mendel Center on Wednesday May 4.  Students will be competing in a Business Plan competition along with other schools in the 3 county area.   Tech Fest Information...

HS Blog 4/25 - 4/29 AP Testing AP Pre-Administration is Wednesday, 9:55-10:55 in the student center Schedule of test dates and times to report for testing will be given to the students on Wednesday.
