SJHS Bears of the Month:

March Bears of the Month!

Congratulations to J'Niya White & Lincoln White for being recognized as our March Bears of the Month at SJHS!


 




Band, Orchestra, Choir News: 

Congratulations to our SJHS Bands and Orchestras. All groups received straight Division I ratings at MSBOA District 6's Band & Orchestra Festival last week.  Our musicians were praised for their nuanced performances & musicality. 


The St Joseph High School Chorale attended MSVMA District Choral Festival and received a high performance score, and an overall 2 rating. The Concert Choir received a Division 1 rating and a perfect sight reading score. Both choirs performed beautifully and received wonderful comments from the judges. Congratulations SJHS Choirs!

Average Joe’s  - Robotics 

IMPRESSIVE performance by FIRST Team 3620, The Average Joes! Not only did they host a world-class robotics event with 39 teams and 150+ volunteers, they managed to WIN the Championships in a tiebreaker and take home the coveted Gracious Professionalism Award. #bearpride #FRC #roboticscompetition #letsgojoes

DECA News: 

Congratulations to the following DECA members who competed at the State Leadership Conference in Detroit, MI this past weekend. 


Andrew Loikits, Hudson Lange and Sonia Komduer- were finalists and will be presenting their Gold Merit projects at ICDC in Orlando, FL April 21th- April 26th.  Ty Dellay, Camp Daniels & Samantha Runser competed in the Leadership & Teamwork Event and were State Champions and were awarded the opportunity to attend the Ignite Academy at ICDC in Orlando, FL.  



Also, congrats to the following students who received awards: 

Sahiti Midithuri- Finalist Medal & Top Role Play Medal

Tess Kapelke- Comprehensive Test Medal





SAT Prep: 

***Dr. Carlin's Test Prep has new FULL SAT Test rehearsal sessions starting SUNDAY March 12.


***State of Michigan mandated SAT Test for all Juniors:  April 12, 2023.

Dr. Carlin will provide each student all necessary class materials as part of the course.


To give you some background about Dr. Carlin, he is the Founder & CEO of Dr. Carlin's Test Prep and College Consulting based in Buchanan, Michigan. He has been regularly hosting SAT and ACT courses at roughly 30 Michigan and Indiana high schools (and now online in Live, Webinar format) for the past 11 years.  He has been working with students on the SAT, ACT, & PSAT both individually and in formal classes for the past 18 years.  


Dr. Carlin is a Buchanan High School Grad ('93), a University of Notre Dame B.A. ('97) and M.Ed ('03) and earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State ('10).  He also works with high school staff on Professional Development and how to incorporate the SAT and ACT into the classroom curriculum throughout the year.  In addition, he assists students and parents on the college application process, including essay revision, resume pieces and scholarship applications.


Dr. Carlin will continue to send you updates on the course as it proceeds (including materials that will help in their preparation) what we are doing in each session, what students could be doing to PRACTICE between sessions and what this all means in the "big picture" from a college perspective.
