Scheduling Deadlines for Next Year:
Parents/Guardians –
On Friday your student attended a class meeting to learn about scheduling for the 2020-21 school year. Take some time to discuss the Course Selection Form options with your student. Please be mindful of the courses they select and refer to our Course Description Book for further information.
DEADLINES:
FEB 7 – 11 (by 3pm) – HONOR/AP CLASS SIGN-UP ONLINE (only if NOT in a current Honors/AP class within that subject area). Students can find links on itsLearning.
FEB 13 – 18 – TEACHER RECOMMENDATION WEEK (during class)
FEB 19 – 28 – COURSE SELECTION ONLINE (Powerschool Registration, opens and closes at 3pm)
MAR 2 – COURSE SELECTION FORM DUE in Guidance Office (signed by parent/guardian)
Course Selection Forms (color coded per grade level) were handed out in class meetings. Absent students can pick up forms in the Guidance Office.

Rotary Athlete of the Month:
Congratulations Nick Borre!
The Rotary Club of St. Joseph-Benton Harbor, in collaboration with the Interact Club of St. Joseph High School, has selected Nick Borre as the January Student Athlete of the Month.
The tradition of recognizing an Athletic Superstar started in 1988, when a young athlete named, Gary Hosbein, was one of the honorees. In 2019, Rotarian and Judge Gary Hosbein brought the Student Athlete of the Month program back to Rotary. Seeking qualities of Leadership, Integrity, Teamwork, Sportsmanship and Promise, Judge Hosbein selects one athletic superstar monthly, working in collaboration with the Interact Clubs of Lake Michigan Catholic High School and St. Joseph High School.

Poetry Out Loud:
This week we held our first annual Poetry Out Loud competition at SJHS. Please congratulate senior Zoe Downey, winner of our school competition, and sophomore Jessica Kuhlmann, our first runner up! Zoe will represent SJHS this March when she competes at the state level in Lansing. Please wish her luck!
Business Bites:
Business Bites: Thank you Staff Sergeant Sarah Thompson (along with Sergeant Dunn & Sergeant Kirk) for presenting at our Business Bites lunch Thursday 2/6/20. SSG Thompson has a background in ACCOUNTING and talked to the students about various careers in the accounting field. She shared some unique and lesser known paths with the military and did a great job!
Upcoming: We look forward to hearing from Dr. Robert Nolan, Director of Emergency Medicine at Spectrum/Lakeland Healthcare Network on Thursday 2/20/20.
Senior All Night Party Information:
Parents - please use the following link to access the Senior All Night Party information. This is a well planned and organized event by some of our senior parents each year. It is a great way to send our seniors off after graduation and provide a structured, safe, and memorable event for our graduates. I would love to see each and every senior attend this year. We usually have around 175 of our 250 or so graduates go each year. Cost is $100 before Apr. 17th. If you are able please consider sponsoring another student so we can raise enough funds to send every graduate on the trip!
