Parents - YOUR HELP PLEASE
Your student received lots of information today. Most importantly is the emergency form and student
handbook form. Please ask your student for these tonight, sign them for us, and make sure they
return back to school tomorrow to be turned in. Please reference the student handbook online
at www.sjschools.org for school rules and expectations. Thank you for your attention to this :)

Child Find:
CHILD FIND??
WHAT IS IT AND WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
Child Find is a legal requirement that school districts to identify, locate and evaluate all children who
have disabilities and who may be entitled to special education services regardless of the severity of
their disabilities. Child Find covers every child from birth through age 21. The school has an
obligation to evaluate any child that it knows or suspects may have a disability. file:///Users/dreisig/

You may not have heard of the Child Find mandate. It’s a legal requirement for schools to find
children who have disabilities and need services. Identifying these kids is an important first step
toward getting them the help they need to succeed in school.
