Bears of the Month:
Congratulations to Ketaki Gaikwad and Josh Dixon for being recognized as our January Bears of the Month at SJHS!!!

Guidance Office News:  “Screenagers”
Parents and students K-12, please join us Feb 11th from 6:30 pm -8:30 pm in the St Joseph High School’s John and Dede Howard auditorium for a viewing of Screenagers. Screenagers is an award-winning film that depicts the challenging struggles that families have over social media, video games and academics. The film offers solutions on how we can help our kids navigate the digital world. After viewing the film, we have a county expert, Joe Rommel, who will give additional updates on current social media trends and suggestions for parents on setting boundaries with their students’ social media use.

Refreshments will be available, along with free childcare offered by SJHS National Honor Society student group. Childcare is available for toddler through elementary school age children.

Berrien County 5th Year Early/Middle College Info:
Attention 10th grade students!  Do you want to get a head start on college and in life by earning substantial credit for FREE, while you’re still in high school?  You can by applying to be a part of the Berrien County 5th Year Early/Middle College program! Tuition, books, and fees are provided at no cost to students and families.

How does it work?  Basically, you will earn substantial college credit up to an associate degree or a career certificate by taking college classes during your 11th and 12th grades of high school.  You will then attend college full-time during “grade 13” in your 5th year of high school.

Are you interested in learning more about the 5th Year Early/Middle College? Check out one of our upcoming information nights or visit your school counselor’s office!

Completed application deadline is February 1, 2019 due in SJHS Guidance Office.  Only 10th grade students may apply.  Don’t delay! There are a number of components to the application, including taking the AccuPlacer exam offered through Lake Michigan College and Southwestern Michigan College along with collecting a number of letters of recommendation.

For more information, please visit the Berrien County 5th Year Early/Middle College website.
