Bears of the Month:
Congratulations to Jordan Sanderson and John Adkins for being recognized as our December Bears of the Month at SJHS!!!

Business Bites:
*We are excited to announce our next Business Bites lunch will be this Thursday 12/13 with a technician from City Plumbing & Heating.  He will provide a practical presentation about heating & plumbing in our boiler room. This is a growth industry and the Occupational Outlook Handbook predicts there will be 75,000 more job openings in this field through 2026.
Pizza will be provided for students who attend and they can sign up on itsLearning.
*Did you know that socks are the most needed but least donated item for homeless people?  We learned this when Mike Smith talked to our students this fall. We are continued his message about being a wisher, talker or doer during our Advisory Tuesday.  We will discuss activism and the idea of complaining less & giving more.  To kick this off we are having a 6-12 grade sock drive.    It will go from Tuesday 12/11 - Wednesday 12/19, our Key Club is sponsoring a sock drive and we will be competing with Upton to see who can bring in the most donations!

Virtual Reality Goggles:  Mr. Cole’s Class
Mr. Cole’s class has been working with a program this year funded by a St. Joseph Public School Foundation grant that utilizes virtual reality goggles to provide students with real life-like opportunities to experience historical events.  They have even worked on creating their own tours of some of our own historical artifacts here in our local community and had an opportunity to present these to government officials in Lansing recently.

Here are the links to the VR tours created by our students

Whirlpool Challenge:  Good Luck and Congratulations!
We have three top 10 teams presenting on Friday December 14th- they will be presenting their 8-minute projects at 9:45, 10:30 and 11:00 if you would like to see a team presentation.  When the teams are not presenting they will be stationed in the hall for an "Idea Fair" to give a two-minute elevator pitch to various Whirlpool employees to try to sell them their idea from 9:00 until 11:15. The overall decision will be announced around 12:15 as to which team/idea is the winner of the Innovation Challenge!

We will be spending the morning at the Whirlpool Riverview Campus- 600 W. Main Street in Benton Harbor if you are interested in stopping by to see a presentation or just walk through the Idea Fair to check out the competition.
