School Climate Survey:
Opt out information. We are going to conduct a short 10-15 school climate survey on Wed.
3/31 this week. Information about the survey is listed below.
The School Climate Survey is an anonymous survey used to identify school climate issues within school. The survey should take no more than 10–15 minutes to complete. The survey is anonymous, but parents/guardians have the option to opt out if desired.
The data collected from the survey will be used to identify student perceptions of school climate issues within our schools. School staff use the results to inform our efforts at improving our school climate.
Our desire is to involve parents in their children’s education. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this important activity, please email Mr. Berry at jberry@sjschools.org by 9 a.m. Wed. morning.
I would prefer that my child NOT participate in the School Climate Survey. Please title email in subject line: OPT OUT, and include student name and grade.
Thanks
Mr. Blomgren
Key Club News:
Key Club is proud to announce that Jacob Remington has been named our new Division 8 Lieutenant
Governor for the State of Michigan. Congrats Jacob! We look forward to your leadership in 2021-22!
Science Olympiad Team:
The St. Joseph High School Science Olympiad team has been working hard this year in a virtual
setting. The team came together and placed second overall in a combined regional competition that was
conducted virtually. This earned the team an invite to the state competition which will also be
conducted in a virtual setting. The team did a great job and worked diligently through many challenges
and technical difficulties. Congratulations and GO BEARS!
Ren Baldwin Tech Festival:
The 2021 Ren Baldwin Student Technology Festival is now accepting entries for
projects. All project entries are due by Thursday, April 15th, and will be
showcased along with winning projects during a virtual festival event on May
7th. Please visit our festival informational website to learn more about entering.
Prom:
Over the last couple of weeks we have been doing our homework on end of school year events and activities,
usually pertaining to our Seniors. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) along
with the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals have given the ok for Prom with the following
current restrictions.
Restrictions:
Event must be held outdoors to maximize capacity.
Masks must be worn at event at all times.
Limited to 300 attendees including chaperones.
Rapid testing may be required in order to attend.
With the current restrictions, we will not be able to accommodate all Sr. and Jr. at SJHS. Please see Prom FAQs, Prom FAQs, for more information.
Also, I would like to share that this Prom will not be like any Prom we have had in previous years. Meaning, not knowing how Covid might impact our Prom plans and the fact that weather could be a factor, I would not recommend getting carried away with expensive dresses and tuxedo rentals as we cannot predict whether this event will even occur at this time. Please use your discretion.
Last, please know this is an optional event and if you or your family has any reservations because of Covid and
safety concerns then I would not attend this optional event.
