St. Joseph High School News 11/27/17 - 12/1/17 Happy Holidays: Hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving and the opportunity to catch up with family, friends, and some rest.   Only a few weeks till Christmas Break, we will be dismissing on 12/22 after a half day of school and returning 1/8 as we resume school.   Happy Holidays from all of us at SJHS!! Interact Rotary Club News Last Friday, Interact volunteered at the Luminary Festival by helping set up, take down, and wrap gifts for the season.  Also, the Interact Club raked leaves at local homes on Sunday, November 19th.  Band News: Two of our very own SJHS students participated in the MSBOA District VI All Star Band on Sat. Nov. 18 th .   Congratulations and a job well done to Emma Marchel (Principal Percussionist, 12th grade) and Jacob Maynard (Oboe, 9th grade) who performed Saturday in the MSBOA District VI All Star Band. The All Star Band, composed of 86 students selected from 17 schools across District VI, rehearsed together for approximately 12 hours

St. Joseph High School Blog 11/13/17 - 11/17/17 Academic Challenge Team: The Academic Challenge team traveled to Holland on Saturday to compete in the Holland Invitational Tournament and won the tournament for the second straight year.  The Bear Quiz Kids dominated the field and ended the day with a perfect 9-0 record.  The field consisted of 13 schools and a total of 24 teams.  The Bears sent two varsity teams and 1 JV team to the event and all represented their school and community with class and great sportsmanship.  The tournament win qualified the Bears to compete in the Michigan Class “A”  State Tournament on the campus of MSU in the spring. The WSJM Southwestern Michigan Quiz Bowl Season started last week and the Bears started with a bang and defeated their arch rival Berrien Springs by a score of 285-80.  The Bears are the defending champs.  The team is coached by Social Studies teacher Gary Etter. SJHS Blog 11/6/17 - 11/10/17 High School Heroes: This week, we spotlight Tony Hoffman and Keith McLaughlin… Thank you for your combined 41 years of service to SJHS! https://sjhighschoolheroes.blogspot.com/2017/11/high-school-heroes-november-6-2017.html SJHS Baking Club: SJHS Baking Club members, Elise Voglewede, Anna Nobouphasavahn, Yanna Callonnec, Madison Nutto, and Isabella Sliter won the 2 nd Annual Cupcake Wars last Wednesday with their Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes.  The Baking Club is a student-lead group created by Noah Hayden and Bri Walsh.  The SJPS Foundation helped sponsor the competition.  Congrats to the winners! St. Joseph Football: St. Joseph Football give back event:  Tuesday, November 7 th a portion of all sales at Silver Beach Pizza go to the St. Joseph Football Boosters.  Dine in or carry out, no flyer, no need to mention St. Joseph Football just enjoy Silver Beach Pizza and support the Bears.
